Education

Ray earned his undergraduate degree in Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Experience

Ray began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago, where he was a senior auditor. Ray continued his career with a large privately held company in the mail order business as a senior financial advisor. Ray began his practice in public accounting in 1981.  He eventually formed a firm in Palatine, Illinois with Harold Solomon, known as Bass, Solomon & Co., Ltd., and then in 1992 Greg Dowell joined with Ray and Harold to form the firm that would eventually become known as Bass, Solomon & Dowell, LLP. Ray continues to work extensively in the audit area. Much of his practice is also devoted to small and medium sized businesses, for which he provides accounting services and consults on tax matters, financing issues, retirement planning, and strategic planning. Ray has also developed an expertise in the areas of estate and trust planning. Ray also works with individuals on income tax planning and preparation, financial planning, and retirement planning.

Activities and Associations

Ray is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the American Institute of CPAs. Ray has taught classes in various accounting subjects for Arthur Andersen & Co. He continues to pursue continuing education courses in the areas of accounting, auditing, finance and taxation.
