Most mid-sized companies do not employ CFOs, so Bass, Solomon & Dowell routinely assumes the role as a trusted business advisor to our clients, advising clients on business strategies throughout the year and helping the client interact with other professionals, such as bankers and attorneys. Our services include analyzing and updating your accounting records and proposing adjusting entries. We act as a knowledge source and sounding board for our clients and their staff. We also prepare or analyze payroll tax and sales tax returns. In many instances, we also process the payroll checks for our clients. Some clients turn to us for a complete outsourcing of all of their accounting functions, or to supplement their accounting department in the event of employee turnover.

We encourage our clients to automate the accounting process whenever and wherever it makes sense to do so. While we work with a number of accounting programs, one of the more common accounting software programs that we routinely see is Quickbooks. We often assist clients in updating or trouble-shooting their Quickbooks; in some cases, we hold training sessions for our clients to teach basic accounting skills and to make accounting a little less mysterious and a little less intimidating.
