Our Work in the Community
We believe that it is our responsibility as individuals to lend our time, talents, and treasure to help individuals and organizations in our community. As a professional services firm, we believe it is the responsibility of Bass, Solomon & Dowell, LLP to 1) educate and encourage our staff members on the benefits of charitable work, 2) assist them in searching out opportunities, and 3) to help them accomodate the demands on their time.
One of the challenges that most nonprofit organizations face is complying with the tax and regulatory requirements at the national and state levels. As a firm, we support numerous civic and charitable organizations and events in the communities by discounting our professional time to provide the specialized services necessary to keep these organizations viable.
Specific charitable activities of our partners can be found under their partner biographies on this website. In addition to our partners, other members of our firm actively search out ways to help others. Here are a few examples:
David Wells, who as a CPA in our firm shares his tax, audit, and accounting skills with our business clients, also has a passion for sailing. Dave also believes in giving a hand to those who need a little extra help. He started volunteering for the Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Foundation in May 2011. The organization’s focus is to provide individuals with a wide range of disabilities a sense of freedom that may be difficult to find in their everyday lives. Staff members provide the necessary guidance and training, the participants carry-out the actually sailing duties, and volunteers are there to lend a hand, learn about sailing, and interact with participants as needed. Dave finds it to be an absolutely amazing group of staff and participants that are highly knowledgeable and passionate about sailing. He finds it astounding that no matter what type of disability a person may have, or if the winds are high or low, they are always very happy to be sailing and involved with the organization.
