Our Work in the Community

We believe that it is our responsibility as individuals to lend our time, talents, and treasure to help individuals and organizations in our community.  As a professional services firm, we believe it is the responsibility of Bass, Solomon & Dowell, LLP to 1) educate and encourage our staff members on the benefits of charitable work, 2) assist them in searching out opportunities, and 3) to help them accommodate the demands on their time.

One of the challenges that most nonprofit organizations face is complying with the tax and regulatory requirements at the national and state levels.  As a firm, we support numerous civic and charitable organizations and events in the communities by discounting our professional time to provide the specialized services necessary to keep these organizations viable.

Specific charitable activities of our partners can be found under their partner biographies on this website.  In addition to our partners, other members of our firm actively search out ways to help others.  Here are a few examples:

  • Woodstock Soup Kitchen
  • Barrington Meals on Wheels
  • Lifesource – blood donations
  • Home of the Sparrow – volunteer work days
  • Good Shepherd Hospital – day surgery volunteer
  • Holy Family Parish – Assist-a-Family Ministry
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Northern Illinois Food Bank
  • Willow Creek Community Church – Food Pantry
  • First Church of Lombard – Community Table
  • First Church of Lombard – PADS (“Public Action to Deliver Shelter”)
  • Knights of Columbus – Tootsie Roll drive to support the disabled
  • Lutheran Church Charities – LERT Team, which provides disaster relief

We support the business community in a number of ways as well.  In addition to being a vibrant part of the business community and networking with other business owners, members of our firm participate in the following organizations:

  • Palatine Chamber of Commerce
  • Barrington Chamber of Commerce
  • Northwest Suburban Estate Planning Council
